About Us

Orbital Emitter is a New York City based independent sound design collective founded by award winning television editor and life long sci-fi fan, Charlie Eisenhardt.
Throughout his career, Charlie has worked with major networks, Hollywood studios as well as streaming platforms and creative agencies. And whatever the high profile project, Charlie's creative process will usually begin with sound first.
"Sound is what brings authenticity to movies, shows, animation, games as well as multimedia content," Charlie muses. “Sound glues the visuals together.”
“This idea of prioritizing audio is nothing new when I’m building epic trailers or image spots, but I do this to lead the visuals and make them more engaging.”
Charlie has worked on campaigns for various science fiction IP’s and during that time, he had difficulty finding believable sci-fi sound effects that could be dropped quickly into the shows and media he was working with.
"That got me thinking about the kinds of sounds I wished I could have for sci-fi based projects..."“I realized that if we could have sci-fi sounds that were motion picture quality- right out of the virtual box, it could speed up everyone's workflow"
But it became obvious to Charlie that the quality of the sounds would have to be impressive for Post Mixers and Editors to use them.
So, Charlie took his visual expertise and combined it with his recording studio experience and a few years later, he emerged with an impressive library of science fiction and editorial sound effects.
He bases his libraries on ideas & themes common to all sci-fi media. "So, there might be environments representing smooth future technology or gritty cyberpunk ambiences. The palette is wide!"After sharing his sounds with other award winning colleagues, Charlie started selling his sound-sets to the world so that everyone could benefit from his imaginative sounds and elevate their creative projects!
“I find it exciting when folks outside of the biz thank me for my sounds- saying they breathed life into an animation they did -or a short film, etc.
And it's awesome when I hear my sounds being used in major productions as well-
But it means a lot when folks new to creativity find value in my sounds and use them to express themselves!"
